Hi, I’m Amy.
Ever since I can remember I have valued looking after my body. I have a clear memory of making a conscious decision at quite a young age to do my best to look after it so that it would look after me and allow me to enjoy life for as long as possible.
I was always a very active child but as I got older being active was no longer a normal part of my everyday life, so I started looking for something to do to keep my body moving. I’d heard good things about Pilates and decided to give it a try. I absolutely loved it!
I attended my first class at 19 years old and it’s been a constant in my life ever since.
I began my teacher training in 2013 at the age of 26 and qualified a year later. My apprenticeship was with The Pilates Standard, I completed their fully comprehensive program devised by Bob Liekens and taught by the excellent Holly Murray of PI Studios in Battersea.
Bob Liekens trained under Romana Kryzanowska who worked directly with Joseph Pilates and even took over his studio after his death.
I am very fortunate to have participated in one of the purest classical pilates training programs out there.
My interest in health and wellness has continued and developed over the years. In 2016 I found myself becoming more and more interested in mental wellbeing. I began reading up on personal development which I found fascinating and invaluable for my own mental and emotional health.
I then found out about the Langley Group Institute’s accredited 10653NAT Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing, in which I enrolled in 2018 and qualified in August of 2019. It is the first course of its kind, offering comprehensive, practical, and accredited training in applied positive psychology, wellbeing, neuroscience and emotional intelligence.
The diploma was such a fantastic experience and I was very lucky to have it facilitated by Sue Langley herself who is an incredible teacher and a respected part of the positive psychology community.
I see such an amazing cross over between Pilates and Positive Psychology. Both teach us to become more self aware and mindful of our actions. They teach us to make the connections we need physically, mentally and emotionally in order to thrive and flourish.
I truly believe, and am very passionate about the importance of taking care of our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Partaking in both of these practices will help prevent pain, discomfort and injury both in our minds and in our bodies.
These are the choices that can help us make the most out of our time here on earth. After-all, we’re all born and we all die, what happens in-between is largely down to us.
I am always continuing my education and striving to learn more, my goal is consistently to help my clients feel better and adopt healthy habits.
